UNIVERSITY STUDENT DAY (5th of September 2019)
The AEGC2019 welcomes undergraduate, honours and masters students to register their interest to attend the sponsored AEGC2019 University Student Day. The AEGC2019 has capacity to host up to 50 enrolled tertiary students that are not registered as conference delegates. This is a fantastic opportunity for students looking to have their first taste of a premier geoscience conference, learn about career paths and supporting programmes, and network with industry geoscience professionals.
Four information sessions are scheduled:
- A discussion on honours, masters and PhD geoscience degrees and upcoming local-institution projects,
- Career insights and advice from experienced geoscientists from varied disciplines,
- Local mentoring and development programmes, and
- Exciting geoscience challenges, including the Frank Arnott Award.
An expert Q&A-style panel will round out the proceedings and allow both students and conference delegation to tackle front-of-mind questions and share experiences. Students will also have an opportunity to network and have lunch with sponsor geoscientists.
Students are offered a guided tour of the exhibition and will see the latest in exploration technologies, while having an opportunity to further interact with established geoscientists. Thereafter, students are encouraged to sit-in on several technical sessions of their choosing, or continue to explore the exhibition hall or adjacent poster sessions.
